Depart Christchurch and travel north towards Kaikōura in a comfortable Mercedes Sprinter or similar vehicle, with commentary from your knowledgeable guide along the way. You&rsquo;ll learn about Christchurch and the wider Canterbury region before making a 15-minute stop in Cheviot to stretch your legs and refuel.

Continue through the scenic Hundalee Hills, with opportunities to spot surfers, seals and local wildlife along the route. Once you reach Kaikōura, the main experience begins with an approximately 4-hour Dolphin Encounter Tour as a swimmer, where you can swim and snorkel with Dusky dolphins in the water. The minimum age for the dolphin swimming experience is 8 years.

Please note that this tour is focused on the dolphin encounter, so there is no time for additional walks or local shopping in Kaikōura. Lunch, bottled water and Kiwi snacks are provided during the experience.

On the return journey to Christchurch, stop at Gore Bay for approximately 5 minutes, a rugged and beautiful surf beach, followed by a 5-minute stop at Cathedral Cliffs Lookout. If time allows, you&rsquo;ll also visit Waipara for a selection of locally produced wines at a family-owned vineyard, with beer and non-alcoholic options available as alternatives.
