What to Expect

This exciting and unique water adventure along the Mossman River in the Daintree Rainforest is the perfect tour for nature lovers. You'll journey down the river with a combination of swimming, snorkelling, floating and walking. It's an amazing eco-immersion adventure that’s different every time!

Step into the cool, crystal-clear water and drift with the current as you discover life under the water’s surface. As you explore one of the cleanest rivers in Australia, keep an eye out for some of the friendly inhabitants, including over 30 species of fish, turtles, water dragons, colourfulbirds, electric blue butterflies, and even the elusive platypus!

The Daintree Rainforest is the oldest rainforest in the world, at an estimated180 million years old –  that's even older than the Amazon! It's also Australia's largest rainforest and has a diverse landscape filled with flowing streams, waterfalls, gorges, and an incredible ensemble offlora and fauna. The Mossman River cuts through it, starting under Devils Thumb, before flowing through Mossman Gorge and meandering out to the coast, where it empties into Trinity Bay.

This family-friendly tour is the perfect way to stay cool in the hot tropics and a great introduction to snorkelling before heading out to the reef. You'll spend around 2 hours in the water, with all the required equipment included in the price.

We don’t swim with crocs!

You should always be Croc-wise in Croc country; that is why you can rest assured that our tour operates in a very safe, Croc-Free stretch of water.

Crocodiles use the water, sun and shade to maintain their preferred body temperature of 30–33°C. Where we swim is too clear, too cold at 16-22°C, and too shaded for crocodiles. The cool water is one reason we provide you with a very fashionable wetsuit to use during your tour.

Generally yes!

However, it depends on how much rain and also where the rain is falling.
1-5mm of rain will hardly wet the ground in the tropics, so please don’t worry if this is the forecast.

If you have any concerns, please contact us for an update on the river conditions, as heavy rain can influence the safety and overall enjoyment of this tour.

As this tour is weather dependent, it may be cancelled in conditions of heavy rainfall or extreme weather. If this occurs, an alternative date will be offered, or you will be refunded in full.
