Take a journey through time in Albany with this half-day guided tour, learning the fascinating stories and history of this region.&nbsp;

Start at the National ANZAC Centre. Here you&#39;ll be assigned the identity of an actual serviceman or woman, and follow their experience of the Great War. The interactive&nbsp;displays will take you on an intimate journey of their experience, and at the end, you&#39;ll learn their fate.&nbsp;For those lucky enough to survive, read about their return home and the difficulties they faced adjusting back to normal society.&nbsp;

Under the shade of trees planted to remember&nbsp;fallen soldiers, the Avenue of Honour leads to the Memorial of the Desert&nbsp;Mounted Corps. It&nbsp;commemorates Australian and New Zealand soldiers who died in service or were killed in action in Egypt, Palestine and Syria during World War One.&nbsp;

&nbsp;

Stop at the Padre White Lookout. He was the first to commemorate lives lost in war with a dawn service in 1932, from the top of&nbsp;Mount Clarence, the very site where many gathered to watch the convoys depart in 1914.&nbsp;Take in the view that the departing ANZAC Troops had before they&nbsp;sailed onwards to war; for some of them, the last vision of homeland.

&nbsp;

Curving around Mt Adelaide, Breaksea&nbsp;Island comes into view and stories of the construction of the lighthouse and&nbsp;its connection to the ANZAC narrative are revealed.&nbsp;At Middleton Beach,&nbsp;pause a moment to&nbsp;absorb the vista of the ocean and perhaps, if lucky, a glimpse of sheltering&nbsp;whales and calves.

&nbsp;

Journeying into the city centre, along the way you&#39;ll drive past&nbsp;the oldest farm in Western Australia and learn of the contribution it made to&nbsp;the social life and nourishment of the early community; a property with a&nbsp;chequered history. Plus, you&#39;ll visit one of the&nbsp;earliest homes in Australia at Patrick Taylor Cottage.
