What to Expect
There’s no better way to experience a new city than on two wheels! Feel the breeze in your hair and exercise those legs while getting to know beautiful Bangkok.
For two fun hours, we’ll take you through all the most interesting parts of Thailand’s big capital. We’ll start in Chinatown and slowly make our way across the Chao Praya River to the famous Thonburi District. On the way, we’ll pass by some of Bangkok’s must-see attractions and if we have time, we’ll even visit a few. As your guide tells you the history behind each place, you’ll soon realize why Bangkok is such a fascinating city.
And don’t worry – you don’t need to be a Tour de France champion to enjoy our bike tour. It’s suitable for all ages, and we promise we’ll make plenty of refreshment stops. The route will be quite easy, and we’ll cover approximately 11 km. That means you’re guaranteed a 300+ calorie loss – burning off all that delicious pad thai has never been more fun!
Explore Bangkok’s Chinatown
We’ll kick off our bike adventure at our headquarters. Here, you’ll meet the rest of your lovely tour group and, of course, your bike. It will either be a city or mountain bike, and we’ll make sure it’s got some decent tires on it. All we want you to worry about is having fun – we’ll take care of all the practical things.
We’ll bike through Bangkok’s rich Muslim community to reach the Old Customs House which is situated right on the river. Back in the day, this was the first stop for travelers arriving in Bangkok, so you can only imagine how many people have passed through those doors.
We’ll then get lost in the small alleys that make up the city’s vibrant Chinatown. It’s a very culturally diverse neighborhood, and your guide will make sure you don’t miss out on any of the fun. There’s a maximum of 6 people per tour group, so you’ll have plenty of time to ask your guide about the things we see on the way.
In Chinatown, we’ll pass by Thailand’s first bank and the Holy Rosary Church which is a Roman Catholic church from the 1800s.
Cross the river to the Thonburi District
When we’re ready to leave Chinatown, we’ll catch a ferry across the mother of all rivers, the mighty Chao Praya River. This will take us to the west side of Bangkok and more specifically the historic Thonburi District.
This part of the city feels like one big museum, and we’ll bike from one amazing site to the other. Around every corner, you’ll stumble upon a fascinating piece of history just waiting to be explored. This includes Wat Thong Thammachat, a small temple whose name means “golden nature” in Thai.
We’ll also pass by the fantastic Chee Chin Khor. This impressive 8-story pagoda is part of a large Chinese compound and although it looks old, it was actually built in 1993. Have your camera handy - the colorful details and traditional design will look spectacular in your photos!
The last stop is a very interesting place. Look out for wooden legs and chatty parrots as we check out the remains of a fort that once protected Bangkok from pirates. That’s right - Bangkok is a city that will continue to surprise you!
Have a drink after the tour
After all this two-wheeled fun, we then head back to our headquarters. We love when our guests hang around after the tour, so we’ll bring out some free soft drinks or water. If you feel like something a little stronger, we also sell refreshing cold beers – it’s up to you!
A safe and fun bike tour
All you need to be able to go on our bike tour is a big smile and to be confident on a bicycle. Oh, and knowing how to ring a bike bell is handy, too – you’ll need it!
At Go Bangkok Tours, we take your safety very seriously. That’s why we provide you with all the necessary insurance before you go on our awesome bike tour. This includes personal accident insurance, accidental medical expenses insurance, and personal liability insurance.
Children can come on the tour for free as long as they are carried in a baby seat by an adult (the guide will not carry a child on his bike). Children should be min. 140 cm (4.6”) tall on average to get their own bike.
